Ingrid
Speech Therapist
I have been working as a Speech Therapist for many years in many different settings, including hospitals, community health, and in disability. I am qualified as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist. I am a certified member of Speech Pathology Australia and am certified to present the Basic Key Word Sign workshops through Key Word Sign Australia.
I really enjoy being part of a multidisciplinary team and learning from others to make me a more holistic therapist. I believe strongly in supporting families to better understand their child’s needs and how to best support them by recognizing and respecting their child’s strengths and areas of interest. I believe that all communication is valid and meaningful, and is a basic right for all.
My specific areas of interest include:
Early communication
Gestalt language processing
Neurodivergence
Key word signs and the development of AAC (alternative and augmentative communication)
Selective eating and safe eating in babies and young children
Ways to adapt learning environments to support individual needs and inclusion
I am a mum of two wonderful young adults. When I am not working, I usually have my nose in a book, baking sweet treats in the kitchen or searching for some warm sunshine.
